NEW! LOCATED IN SPRINGBANK HILL - SUMMIT OF MONTREUX | SUPPORTED LEARNING
Information Session: August 6
The Leap Learning Hub is a service offering at Leap Studios Inc., an independent youth learning facility, which does not operate under the same guidelines as public schools. As a private organization, we are able to set our own class sizes (max. 10 students per group), educational best practices and standards of care. Leap Studios Inc. follows all regulatory association guidelines that govern business and is independently youth protection certified.
All classes will meet at Leap Studios’ facility which is located at 288 St. Moritz Drive SW. The facility has Instructional Rooms that accommodate physical distancing with a maximum of 10 students, a lunch area, parking, security systems, state of the art air handling capacity, and outdoor nature corridors in walking distance.
Each classroom will be staffed by background checked, adult Instructional Guides whose role is to help the students to log-in and navigate virtual learning each day. Our instructional guides are also there to create a sense of community, foster safe socialization and facilitate daily enrichment activities among learners. In some cases, there will be one instructional guide for the morning and one for the afternoon to minimize teacher exposure and to maximize classroom coverage for when subs are needed.
Leap Studios Inc. follows the More Than Just Great Dancing!® Safer Studio™ policies and procedures which focuses on a hierarchy of measures beginning with avoiding contact with anyone with symptoms, followed by frequent hand cleaning and good hygiene practices, amplified cleaning and disinfection, and minimizing contact and mingling. We have implemented products, procedures and plans that exceed the guidelines administered by Alberta Health Services.
The mere act of getting up in the morning, getting dressed and “going to school” can be a significant anchor for a child in a turbulent time. Daily routines are stabilizing for children. Our small class sizes and structure minimize risk and maximize the joyful parts of schools such as socialization. Our classrooms are well lit and cheery, and our facility is fresh, new and exceptionally well-maintained. Important routines of school such as classroom greetings, newsletters, enrichment activities and community building are not only still present in our program, they are more important than ever.
Our staff is temperature checked on a daily basis, but we do not temperature check students.
Our staff have been wearing masks all summer and will continue to do so, in accordance with local by-law and in support of reducing the risk of transmission. City of Calgary and Provincial Health Orders do not require our students to wear masks inside the building:
Students are registered members of our programs, and as such, are exempt from the City of Calgary’s indoor mask By-Law. We are asking that all students over the age of 5 wear a mask in to the building’s common area, and may remove their mask when in their classroom. They are welcome to continue wearing their mask if you prefer. We will also be practicing physical distancing in the learning areas and recreation areas, so it will not be necessary for the student to wear a mask for that reason also.
